Sanpellegrino Continues Upward Trend With €895m Turnover

Italian mineral water company Sanpellegrino ended 2017 with a turnover of €895 million, producing 3.7 billion bottles and continuing the positive trend from 2016.

According to the company, which also produces non-alcoholic beverages, international sales accounted for 54% of the total turnover with almost 1,600 million bottles sold in more than 150 countries.

Exports grew 4%, driven by San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna mineral waters. Sanpellegrino's turnover grew by 7.8% by volume in Europe and by 14.8% by volume in Latin America.

The growth of the mineral water business was driven by the excellent performance of San Pellegrino (+5.2% in volume compared to 2016) and Acqua Panna (+7%) in both the Italian and international markets.

In Italy, sales were driven by the Levissima brand (+7%), while the group’s overall turnover in the Italian market amounted to €410 million.

Future Projects

Sanpellegrino closed 2017 with the announcement of an investment of €30 million into the restyling of the Cepina Val di Sotto plant, where the Levissima brand is bottled, to increase environmental performance and make the production site more efficient.

This year, work will also start on the construction of the San Pellegrino Flagship Factory, its new headquarters and bottling plant, in San Pellegrino Terme. The 17,000-square-metre facility is expected to cost €90 million.
